Postgraduate Research in Psychology

The Northumbria Psychology department is proud to supervise postgraduate research (PGR) students at the PhD level. PGR students pursue research projects within each of our research clusters, and are a valued and critical part of the health and success of the psychology department. PGR students benefit from non-academic collaborations, and become involved in academic, industry, and policy workshops and events. Several of our PGR students have gone on to win national prizes with examples including those presented by the BPS Psychology Postgraduate Affairs Group (PsyPAG) and the BPS PG thesis award. Our PGR students also have a successful record of publishing work from their PhD, with 27 students having published in peer-reviewed journals from the last REF cycle. Find out more about our PGR students here.

Those interested in pursuing a PhD in our department can find more information on the Northumbria Postgraduate Research Degrees page. We offer a number of fully funded studentships from across our research clusters along with self-funded projects. If you would like to pursue a PhD in one of our research areas, please inquire with the member of staff whose research you are interested in. For general queries, you can contact Professor Haskell-Ramsay.
