Professor Krishna Busawon

Professor

Department: Mechanical and Construction Engineering

I am currently a Professor in Control Systems Engineering and the Head of Electrical Power and Control research group in the Faculty of Engineering and Environment. My research interest lies mainly in the area of mathematical modeling, nonlinear control, nonlinear observer design, fault detection and isolation with application to various engineering disciplines such as mechanical, power and biotechnological systems. Recent research interests are in compressive sensing, chaos communications and hybrid systems.

In 1989, I obtained my first degree in Mathematics and Fundamental Sciences from the University of St-Etienne. I then went to the University of Lyon where he obtained his BEng and MSc Degree in Electrical Engineering in 1990 and 1991 respectively. I went on to continue my post-graduate studies in the same university and consequently obtained my MPhil and Ph.D. degree in Control Systems Engineering in 1992 and 1996 respectively.

After obtaining my PhD, I was appointed as Research Fellow at Simon Fraser University, Canada, in 1997. Following this, I joined the University of Nuevo León in Mexico where I worked as a Lecturer in the Department of Mechanical and Electrical Engineering (FIME).

In the year 2000, I joined ϲ where I was appointed as a Senior Lecturer in the School of Computing, Engineering, and Sciences. Later in 2008, I became a Reader in Control Systems Engineering and recently a Professor since February 2013 at the same university. I am currently the principal investigator of 5 PhD students.
