Dr Scott Ellis

Dr. Scott Ellis is Senior Lecturer in Banking and Finance with a strong teaching background spanning various higher education institutions worldwide. Specialising in portfolio theory, banking risk management, and regulation, he is committed to shaping the next generation of banking professionals. Since joining ϲ in 2013, he has played a pivotal role in instructing and mentoring numerous undergraduate and postgraduate finance students, leveraging the cutting-edge Bloomberg Trading Suite at the Newcastle Business School. His teaching philosophy integrates Bloomberg seamlessly into module curricula, both locally and internationally, through tutorials, workshops, research, and assessments. He is also a fellow of the Advanced Higher Education Academy.

Scott has a Doctor of Philosophy (PhD) from The Newcastle Business School, his research focuses on Banking Systemic Risk and Regulation, reflecting his dedication to remaining at the forefront of industry developments. As an Affiliate member of the Chartered Institute of Securities and Investment (CISI), he stays current with Continuous Professional Development (CPD) and has excelled in various CISI exams, including "Risk in Financial Services," "Introduction to Securities and Investment," "UK Regulation & Professional Integrity," and "Financial Planning and Advice." With a rich background in the financial services industry prior to academia, he brings a unique blend of practical experience and academic rigor to the classroom, fostering the growth of students in today's dynamic banking landscape. He is enthusiastic about exploring new opportunities in financial training, regulation, and compliance, further contributing to the advancement of the field.
