Allan Hughes' practice deploys SF and parafictional narratives to conspire in the production of remediated histories through forms of post-produced audio visual installation.

Current collaborative projects include Blue Mountain Arcturus, a fictional games research company co-managed with the artist/curator Mark Rohtmaa-Jackson; recent projects of which include the exhibition Polymorph Other at IMT Gallery, London and Queen’s Hall Arts Centre, Hexham. They are currently developing a paper on the practice for a publication on table-top utopias.

Hughes is also a member of NEUSCHLOSS; an irregular coalition of teaching staff at ϲ who, through collaborative practice, explore the problem of what it is to make art within the context of an academic institution. Recent projects have included an on-going engagement and reframing of the artwork Tattoo (1986/2013) by former Northumbria Fine Art lecturer David Dye (1945-2015), a live pedagogic event held within a Jason Rhoades artwork at BALTIC Centre for Contemporary Art and a magical cleansing of the ϲ staff well-being centre.
