Mechanical and Construction Engineering

Mechanical Engineering Design is the process of creating a product considering different disciplines such as structural, fluids mechanics, energy and heat transfer. This process involves using mathematics, materials and engineering mechanics sciences. In this taster session, you will be introduced to some elements of designing a structural product using engineering tools such as three-dimensional computer-aided design (3D CAD) platform.

I will explain the processes to produce the construction documentation set from which the building can be constructed. Explore the benefits of model-based documentation enables coherence between model and drawing . The complete project lifecycle can be controlled from a single file Rich 3D visualization

Researchers, engineers, doctors, and ordinary people use problem solving in a variety of ways every day to figure out solutions to different problems. Engineers face unique challenges during their working day and they'll often have a different tool to solve an aim. Using these resources, they are then left to form an answer. If they hit a wall, they find the way around it and work on a unique solution.

Masonry structures commonly exist in reality and still are popular all over the world. It has been reported and studied that these buildings are vulnerable to strong external loadings imposed by earthquake, strong wind, blast etc. In the past few decades, different seismic retrofitting and strengthening approaches for masonry structures/elements have been developed and implemented. In this seminar, the previous studies on the strengthening/retrofitting techniques for Unreinforced Masonry (URM) buildings subjected to seismic and extreme loads are reviewed.

Change is a constant and has a considerable psychological impact on the human mind. How people react is probably the chief obstacle of successfully implementing change. It is therefore important to understand why people react the way they do during times of uncertainty. This taster session looks at the emotional drama associated with change initiatives and how, by understanding these reactions, managers and leaders are better equipped to make informed strategic decisions.
