Students' Union

Independent of the University and led by the SABB Team, we’re here to make sure that your time at Northumbria is the best it can be. consists of six students, elected by you to run your Students' Union. Our mission is ‘To have a positive impact on the lives of all our students’.

You can find us at City Campus, Coach Lane, Amsterdam and London Campus, working hard to make sure you’ve got everything you need, whether that’s an affordable drink at one of our award-winning bars, joining one of 100+ societies, or some advice about your course from our free advice service.

University is a great time to try new things, meet new people and have some FUN; at NSU we combine all of these things with opportunities to make your CV outstanding.

From Volunteering with one of many projects, joining one of our , or even setting up your own. There is guaranteed to be something for you.

Life at uni can be a bit of a whirlwind and sometimes you may find your studies difficult or feel that complications in your personal life impact your wellbeing. Whatever the challenge you face – on or off campus – NSU's highly trained friendly staff are here to support you.

We offer , as well as confidential academic and housing advice. 


We believe in representing the views of every student to the University and the local community. We support a team of reps who look out for your programme, department and even faculty. 

We campaign to make positive change on your behalf. Have an issue affecting any part of your student life at Northumbria? Speak up and we’ll make sure your voice is heard.

Here at NSU, we know how important it is to blow off steam after a busy day at uni, so we’re here to make sure that you can play as hard as you work.

Our award-winning bars and venues have everything you need to get that much deserved R&R -from everyday good value on food and drinks to quality entertainment, from live music to big screen sports in Habita.

Say hello to , your new hangout on campus where we serve up big screen sport, weekly karaoke and quiz nights. We also have a brand new pool table, pinball machines and table football too.  You’ll find delicious food, great value drinks and loads of non alcoholic options at reduced student-friendly prices, all available to eat in or take- away. With countless deals and events throughout the week, it’ll quickly become your favourite place on campus.

Take advantage of our Scan to Save feature by simply scanning your Northumbria Uni ID card at the till, and the discount is applied! So make sure you remember to bring your ID card along with you.

The Greenhouse

Before lectures, grab a bite to eat and get your caffeine fix (or decaf!) to go at . Dead laptop? Stag charged and smash through that after lunch slump. Grind out the group project or clock in those study hours. We’ve got all the snacks to keep you going to the end of the day.

For more of a common room vibe, Escape on floor 1 provides comfy seating, IT facilities and Microwaves. Plus, giant bean bags, which are perfect for chilling or a nap in between lectures!

The Studio

In you can create your latest Podcast using our high-quality industry-level equipment. Whether you and your besties want to start the next True Crime podcast or you’re brave enough to tackle the mic alone, our vibrant Podcasting room is the space for you to let it all out! It’s FREE for all Northumbria students.
